I am a sophomore and football player at the University of Dubuque. My hometown is Littleton, Colorado where I attended Dakota Ridge High School and played Football, Basketball and Baseball. My focus on mental and physical health has helped me excel in everything I do today. Learning to eat right and keep in shape throughout my athletic career has proven to be a key factor in my success. Working hard and training to be in top physical condition comes with mental challenges that can make or break the process.

With social media and the current pandemic, mental health is more important than ever. I struggled in my process of becoming who I am today. I thought that I wouldn’t be able to make it to the level of success I wanted to be at, but I learned how to understand and switch my mindset to fight through those negative thoughts. Through the pandemic, football and the recruiting process was much harder than in years past and my hope of playing college football dwindled. I decided that instead of giving up and giving into those negative thoughts I would

put my best foot forward, keep getting in shape, and work towards that goal of mine. With mental focus I led our high school team to two State semifinals and was named Colorado 1st Team All State Quarterback. I am now a Quarterback on the University of Dubuque Football Team and have realized through all of this, sports is the main factor that keeps my mental and physical toughness in check.
