My name is Maguire Fitzgerald, and I am a 5th year senior at the University of Dubuque. I am also a member of the baseball team. I have participated in sports my whole life. I have found it to be a great outlet to reduce all my stress. In today’s day and age, physical and mental health are huge issues for students. Many struggle daily even though they may appear fine on the outside. It is crucial that you check in on your peers. Thankfully, I have many resources at my disposal at UD. Whether it be my trainers, coaches, professors, or teammates, I feel comfortable going and talking to them. I have learned the importance of a regular sleep schedule making sure I get adequate sleep. A proper diet and hydration also improve overall physical health. I make it a point to spend time with my friends and family to help maintain healthy social connections. All these things together help me succeed not only on the field, but in the classroom as well.
