ASHR HARRIS

My name is Ashr Harris, and I’m a junior at the University of Dubuque, majoring in business management and playing baseball. Growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, I was often called “small” and “underweight,” which deeply affected both my mental and physical health. Instead of letting those comments defeat me, I used them as motivation to outwork everyone around me. My dad always told me, “While people are sleeping, you’re working,” and this mindset helped me transform my struggles into strength. Through relentless effort, I improved both my physical abilities and my mental toughness. Baseball is one of the hardest sports, demanding physical endurance, mental focus, and resilience. Maintaining a healthy relationship with my mental and physical health has been a priority throughout my journey. I’ve learned that my performance on the field is directly tied to how well I care for myself off the field. Whether it’s through consistent workouts, proper nutrition, or finding moments of rest and reflection, I’ve embraced the idea that strength comes from balance. Now, as a student-athlete, I continue to prioritize my well-being, knowing that success requires balancing mental and physical health. My journey has taught me the power of resilience and hard work, and I’m committed to promoting mental wellness for myself and others!
