My name is Jaylin McCants and I’m from Galesburg, Illinois. I graduated from Galesburg High School in 2020 and am currently a junior on the men’s basketball team at the University of Dubuque.
As I continue to get more experience as a student-athlete at the collegiate level, I want to continue emphasizing the significance of my physical and emotional wellness. I am motivated to improve as both a player and a person on and off the court while being fueled by UD’s winning and competitive culture. I work hard to always do my best and to keep raising the bar for competition that coaches and players have established for me to be great. Being a student athlete, most of my time is taken up throughout the school year due to basketball practice and games, homework, and studying for exams so I occasionally experience stress. Playing basketball helps me tune out any level of stress that life brings me so I can enjoy myself, exert myself, and soak up positive energy from my teammates during games or practices. Maintaining my physical, emotional, and mental health is my priority before I even step onto a court. This is a topic that I look forward to learning about as I continue to grow. I can’t wait to share stories of my journey with others while continuing to expand my knowledge regarding physical, mental, and emotional health.
