My name is Dalton Wood and I am from Spring Grove, Illinois. I graduated from Richmond Burton High School in 2020. I am currently a senior at the university of Dubuque double majoring in Physical Education and Health. I am currently student teaching to complete this major. While being here at the University of Dubuque I have learned and developed so many different skills. Coming in I was a Linebacker, but after the first year got moved to Safety. This transition alone taught me how to adapt to new things and not be afraid to learn new things. I had never played safety before so it was difficult not only physically but mentally. There were all these different techniques and roles I had to learn. I am grateful for that switch though. I have started every game sense that switch. Being able to adapt and overcome is a great skill that I owe to football. Football has not only taught me that but it has also taught me to keep moving forward no matter how hard life hits you. It doesn’t matter if you get hit, but how you respond and get back up. Football has also improved my leadership skills and mental health. Football is an escape from reality where nothing else matters at that moment. It is a way to release any form of frustration or emotion in a healthy way. For that I thank football along with everyone else ever to be involved in it
