As a student athlete I have experiences daily regarding the importance of maintaining a high level of mental and physical health. It is difficult to balance being a full-time student with also being a college athlete. Personally, I have taken use of on campus resources to maintain my physical health. The campus health center and athletic training staff have been stellar in helping me with this task. When it comes to mental health, while I have not ever personally struggled with it, I have seen others around me struggle significantly. I think it is important to develop a routine outside of your sport and the school environment that allows you to prioritize your mental well-being. Maintaining balance is key to living a healthy and happy life while also being able to excel as a student athlete.
