LIAM CARNEY

My name is Liam Carney. I am from Wauconda, Illinois, and attended Wauconda High School. I am a freshman transfer student and football player at UD. I am pursuing a degree in Sports Marketing and Management and hope to coach after my playing days are done. I am transferring to UD from Southern Illinois University and could not be more excited for this new opportunity in Dubuque. In my first semester of college football, I faced numerous challenges and adversities. This adversity helped me grow a lot physically and mentally. I spent a lot of time in the weight room and on the field training. This helped me grow as an athlete and football player. More importantly, though, I grew as a person and spent a lot of time working on my mental health. I learned the importance of leaning on the people around you and building a strong support system.

My family was extremely helpful during this time, and I couldn’t have asked for a better support system. To reach my goals at UD and be successful in the classroom and on the field, I know how important it is to stay physically and mentally strong. That is why I will continue to work to be the best version of myself and improve upon myself each and every day. I am very grateful to Spartans Supporting Physical and Mental Health for providing us with the resources we need to do that. I am very excited about my future at the University of Dubuque.
