My name is Joziah Perez, and I’m from Austin, Texas. I graduated from Lehman High School in 2023 and am currently in my junior year at the University of Dubuque, where I’m majoring in Cybersecurity with a minor in Computer Science. Alongside my academic pursuits, I’m proud to be part of the UD football team, playing on the defensive line. As I enter my second year here, the experience has been incredibly transformative. I’ve come to realize that I truly belong. The transition from high school to college has been a significant adjustment—being far from home, learning to be more independent, and navigating new responsibilities. But through it all, I’ve learned that growth is all about adapting to change and trusting the process. Being a student-athlete comes with its challenges, but it has also taught me the importance of trusting the people around me and allowing those who genuinely want the best for me to be a part of my journey. This kind of support and trust creates an environment where I can thrive, not only as an athlete but as a person striving for success in all areas of life. One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of focusing on the things I can control and not stressing over the things I can’t. Life will always have its ups and downs, but having faith in yourself and in the people who have your back provides the foundation for success, happiness, and continual self-improvement. My ultimate goal is to become a well-rounded individual—strong in my faith, my personal growth, and my relationships. I believe that with the right mindset and support, I can achieve anything I set my mind to, and I’m committed to making the most of this journey, both on and off the field.
