My name is Ruben Karapetyan and I’m a sophomore at the University of Dubuque. My major is Human Health Science, and I plan on being a physical therapist after I graduate. My family is from Armenia, and I train there every summer. I wrestle Greco Roman outside of the season and placed 4th at the US Open this year. I also placed 2nd at the World Team Trials tournament. I look forward to my first NCAA season with University of Dubuque and winning a national title. This season comes after having to sit out last year with an injury. I believe that positivity, hard work, and strong morals are what helps create strong wrestlers, and good human beings. I can take charge of my mental health through my faith in God and by helping people that need help. I try to always keep a positive outlook on life and always look at the bright side of things. I find that these things have helped me with the adversity that I have had to face, and to have the confidence to accomplish my goals. I encourage everyone to consider leaning on their faith and giving service to others to help them have balance in their life.
