My name is Hayden Dunn, and I am a Freshman from Gilbert Arizona and a football player at the University of Dubuque. I am majoring in business and marketing and plan to own my own business when I graduate from UD. I play on the offensive line and have faced both physical and mental challenges in life and the game of football. I have constantly strived to be a role model for fellow student athletes and demonstrate the endurance necessary to succeed on and off the field. When I was sidelined during my high school career due to an ankle injury, I focused on coaching and working with the younger players on their technique and the mental part of the game. I also suffered a hand injury during our playoff games and prepared myself to play with the injury with the help of the training staff. Football has taught me to focus on myself and my health and wellbeing while being a resource and leader for those around me. Giving them the confidence to speak up when they too are facing challenges both on and off the field. Football has given me the platform to reach those around me who are struggling and need a friend and an example to follow. I encourage everyone to utilize the resources around them to take care of themselves and to recognize their ability and responsibility to be a recourse for others.
