JACOB WILLIAMS

My name is Jacob Williams, and I am a sophomore from Dubuque, Iowa. I study Environmental Science at the University of Dubuque and play on the men’s basketball team. Basketball has been part of my life since third grade, and it has taught me many lessons about discipline and balance. College has shown me that being healthy is more than just staying in shape for sports. I have learned that scheduling my time makes a big difference in how I succeed. Keeping a steady routine helps me stay prepared for both classes and practice. I also focus on eating healthy meals, because the way I treat my body impacts my energy and focus each day. Taking care of myself through rest, food, and planning allows me to perform at my best. Another thing I have learned is the importance of asking for help. It is not a weakness but a strength to lean on coaches, professors, and teammates when life gets tough. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and talking about it makes me stronger. As a student-athlete, I know that focus is key, but focus starts with a clear mind. A positive outlook shapes how I handle stress and how I take on new opportunities. I believe that when you care for your mind and body, you are better prepared to handle challenges. I am proud to share this message and support the UD community.
